Guided Tour at the Exhibition of

Andreas Gursky

(Photographer & Artist)

Date:

18th April 2007

Place:

Haus der Kunst,

Attendees:

50

Description:

Haus der Kunst was displaying the largest retrospective to date of the works of world-famous photographer and artist,
Andreas Gursky. It is his first German show in nine years. The majority of the works have been produced after his last
major exhibition at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in 2001. Over the past six weeks, more than 80,000 visitors have flooded into Haus der Kunst – a record figure.
Andreas Gursky, born in 1955, was a star pupil of Professor Bernd Becher in Düsseldorf. Since the late Eighties, his works
have been presented in countless exhibitions. At contemporary art auctions, his pictures fetch record prices: the most
recent, a diptych, sold in February for around € 3 million.

We are delighted that Thomas Weski – the exhibition’s curator and a leading expert on photography – has guided our group through the magnificent retrospective. The event was followed by a drinks party at the “Golden Bar”!
